Theme: A Thousand Paper Cranes
An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by gods. This has also become a symbol of peace, thanks to a brave little girl Sadako Sasaki who inspired and continues to inspire millions of people world wide. She was only two when atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima August 6th 1945. At the age of 11 she was diagnosed with Leukemia or the Atom Bomb Disease. She was told by her best friend a legend of the paper cranes so she began folding them, not only for healing and to be able to run again, but for the peace and healing of all victims of the war in the world. She spent 14 months in hospital folding over 1300 paper cranes using any paper she could find, including wrappers of the medicines she was receiving. The monument was built to her in Hiroshima that has plaque which reads: "This is our cry. This is our prayer. Peace in the world."
I got introduced to Sadako when i was in 7th grade, we had to read a book "Sadako Hoce Zivjeti/Sadako Wants to Live/Sadako Will Leben" by Karl Bruckner, and since she has inspired me in many ways throughout my life. I want to read the same book to my little one, hoping it will make impact to her life down her life. There are many writters which have written the story of Sadako.
Few days ago a Dooms-Day Clock, was set to 5 minutes to midnight, moved by 2 minutes foward due to increased threat of Nuclear war, by governments in shamefull search for money selling uranium to countries that are not signaturies of nuclear non-proliferation treaty, as well as other countries conducting nuclear tests and pushing in their desire to further develop nuclear arsenal. For all I am concerned these weapons should never had been created. I think it is rather sad world where we develop the weapons that have the potential to end the world, the life, bring on destruction. I want to force all politicians, business and religious leaders to consider the impact of their actions, to remmember Sadako. It would be great if we could all send a thousand paper cranes with our wishes to them, and make them realise the evil they are doing.
Through this contest I want you to creating to make your wish, your thousand paper cranes, hoping this insanity would end, hoping that the people would be aware of consequences of their actions, the self destruction, or to bring hope, and attempt to change the world for more peacefull place. (I know i sound here like a blonde trying out for miss universe) If one wishes to take me literarly they are more than welcome to make a thousand paper cranes and send them to be added under the monument of Sadako, or send them to your politician, but I do want to allow everyone full creativity of exploring this topic using the traditional media. It can be anything pretty much from a work depicting beauty and celebration of life itself to a work depicting the other end of the spectrum that is the consequences of the insanity of this world.

In response to my poll about schooling
I thought the best to respond to everyone in the poll is one journal so I would not repeat myself. This is to answer all the comments under the poll I have posted, as well to explain why the poll was posted. I am sorry I didnt get to this sooner I could not as I am incredibly busy.
Nevertheless it is to say that I am hugely disappointed with Australia's public school system. That is why I have decided to transfer my child for year 6 and high school after it to Catholic school next to us. I was thinking long and hard about it and here it is why:
- My daughter is grade 5 now, and she does not have basics down. She has trouble with spellin

I examine other peoples work, try to learn from it. I get seduced by their thoughts, their brush strokes, their inner conversations while creating. I get captured by their emotions screaming and yelling from their creation. I might prefer the human figure and face, but that is because I love how expressive, fragile and different human body can be. I prefer raw emotion. I like the range of emotions one can have. All the works below have stirred me in some way. I love them all.

What a day! I hate when people make oversexualize kids. I mean besides going to shops and being able to find padded bras for 4 year olds today shocked me to no end.
We went as a family to pool today. Pretty much all in tow, husband, 3 kids (11 year old, 2 year old and 10 month old). My husband even woke up for occasion, which is weird because he values his sleep more than anything. We decided to go to swimming pool like normal family and do something fun for the kids. My 11 year old has nice purple single piece bathers and my 2 year old and 10 month old have matching blue and white stripped bottoms. So we paid entrance, (14.50$ + 2.50$ fo

I guess its time to kick my butt and get another feature done. I had very rough couple months and needed to put myself together. Between potty training my two year old, studying for NAPLAN tests with my 11 year old and tending to 10 month old, I have revamped my study I share with my husband, made new desks out of doors, put shelves in, name it - it got done. I have pretty bussy life. I get up around 4:30-5am and keep running like wild woman with kids grabbing my legs till they are in never land by 7pm. I wipe ones behind, breast feed another one, chase after third one not wanting to do her math, schedule dermatologist appointments for 2

I'm a bit confused over exactly what the contest is. What exactly are we supposed to come up with? Just any form of trad art that has 1000 paper cranes in it? What about photos, are they allowed?
This is a really nice story though btw.
